Industry Seminar-Modernization of Grouper Farming at Sabah
MFFAM 4th Dialogue with Department of Fisheries (DOF) and Lembaga Kemajuan Ikan Malaysia (LKIM)
MFFAM will be having its 4th Dialogue with DOF and LKIM to discuss on the current marine fish farming issues. The dialogue is set tentatively on 9 – 10th September 2014 with DOF and LKIM. Members or interested parties are invited to send attend or send it any issue affecting them before 9th September for MFFAM to present to DOF and LKIM.

In view of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak announcement on Thursday, 30 January 2014 on the crash of siakap fish prices due to dumping of products from overseas, MFFAM is collecting data on information on farmers affected. If you have problems selling siakap please contact MFFAM.

MFFAM AGM NOTICE
MFFAM AGM 2014 & Annual Fundraising Dinner 2014
MFFAM will be holding its AGM on the 20th June in PWTC and the Annual Fundraising Dinner in conjunction with Grouper, Snapper & Barramundi (GSB) 2014 and Malaysia International Seafood Exposition (MISE)2014. This AGM is a voting AGM in which all members will be voting for the new committee members for the next 2 year term. Details can be found here.
Grouper, Snapper & Barramundi (GSB) 2014
In conjunction with Malaysia International Seafood Exposition (MISE) 2014 to be held in PWTC on the 19 – 21 June 2014, MFFAM will organize Grouper, Snapper & Barramundi (GSB) 2014. This seminar which will highlight the important issues on the 3 major aquaculture species in Malaysia. International speakers and participants are expected to attend and present their papers. Sustainable Seafood Festival 2014 – Hooked on Sustainable Seafood for a Healthy Ocean
WWF Malaysia & Coral Triangle Initiative (CTI) has invited MFFAM to participate in Sustainable Seafood Festival 2014 to be held on the 7th June 2014 at Intermark Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. MFFAM will be opening a booth and will promote its activities and future events such as GSB 2014 and MISE 2014. All visitors are welcome! . Details of the event can be found here.
MFFAM Discussion with Department of Fisheries on El- Nino
MFFAM was invited to attend a discussion on how El- Nino will affect fish farmers in Malaysia. The discussion which took place in Putrajaya was also attended by representatives from other organization such as NEKMAT, Persatuan Penternak Udang Malaysia and representatives from fresh water farmers in Malaysia. The result of the discussion will be disclosed later.
Malaysia International Seafood Exposition (MISE)2014 Soft Launching
MFFAM attended a dialogue on Malaysia's Grouper, Snapper & Barramundi, organized by WWF in Penang. The dialogue was held to discuss on the management and culture of these fish species in Malaysia. The main outcome from this dialogue was the establish a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on the sustainable culture of Grouper and Snapper in Malaysia. Mr Mohamed Razali, on behalf of MFFAM presented on the role of MFFAM towards a sustainable aquaculture in Malaysia. Details of the Dialogue can be found here.

MFFAM was invited to participate in the soft launching of MISE 2014, held in Seri Pacific Hotel. MISE is an international conference and exhibition which highlights the marine products of Malaysia. Details of the event can be found here.

AIMS & OBJECTIVES
The objectives of MFFAM are to advance knowledge on all aspects of sustainable
aquaculture and related activities with particular reference to Malaysia and
the neighbouring region in order to foster rational development and management
of aquaculture and related activities for food, recreation and conservation.
The Association aims to meet these targets by organising and participating
in meetings, seminars and forums as well as to produce, publish and disseminate
latest information on sustainable aquaculture and related issues to its members
